Two New Works and a Show!

This past weekend was Art-A-Whirl open studio tour in NE Minneapolis. It was so inspiring to go and see all the amazing creatives in this community. It was also a bonus that there was great breweries and music (Har Mar Superstar) to boot.

We are well into May and I have completed two new pieces, which feels like progress. I’m in a show coming up at the Artless Bastard gallery in De Pere, WI. The opening reception is Thursday, May 30th and though the gallery is a painful 4 hour drive I am headed there with my daughter for an overnight adventure! It feels amazing to have something on the calendar that is just mine and involves art. My daily calendar is typically made up of ukulele, track and field and math tutoring for my kids.

In my current series I am continuing to focus on the power of aging and finding subjects who are proud of the skin they are in. Finding the beauty and grace in the lines we wear on our faces as we age and not shying away from it is powerful. I hope the imagery that I create through this series comes across as bold, confident and inspiring. I feel so grateful to have come across several people already who are willing to let me include them in this work. I can’t wait to share more with you soon.
