October Already!

We are already into Fall and the kids are settled into the new school year. Summer was great but I really needed to get back to a routine and some me time! This means that I am back working every day in the studio getting ready for Art Attack! Art Attack is coming up quick, November 10-12th and I have a handful of fun new works for the event. I hope you can make it, it’s always a great time.

I threw my hat in the ring and applied for the Jerome Fellowship for emerging artists. It took me a good two months to put together my proposal. I wrote a new artist statement and a very through and thoughtful (I hope), fellowship goals statement. I don’t think I will qualify for this fellowship for much longer as I am starting to find my roots in the Minneapolis arts community. It is a long shot with stiff competition as there are so many gifted and remarkable artists in our area. But - you never achieve anything without trying so why not?

I applied for a temporary position at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts! The position is for an upcoming exhibition that runs November through January and I learned yesterday that I received the job! I will be working there starting next week until the end of January. I am so thrilled to have this opportunity. I can not tell you how much I love the MIA. It has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember and there is no better place I can imagine working (except in my studio ;-) .

Thats it for now! I will have one more Art Attack update in the coming weeks.

Cheers,

-Cara Jo
